Letters to the 2007 Legislature

April 30, 2007 - Letter in support of SJR 2. - proposes to amend the Nevada Constitution to revise provisions relating to the selection of justices and judges. Read SJR2.    Review the history of SJR2 on the Nevada Legislature site.

March 29, 2007 - Letter in support of AB 505 - changes the filing deadlines so that when a judge discovers, at the end of the filing period, that she has no opposition, then she need not go out to raise money for a campaign that will not be needed. Link to AB 505 . As of April 24, AB 505 had cleared the Assembly and was in the hands of the Senate LO&E Committee. Dr. Walton revised the letter of support for this bill, and sent it to the Senate committee. As of May 18, AB 505 passed both houses and was signed into law by Gov. Gibbons.
